Bettina Wiesinger CPM, RM, BSc

My name is Bettina Wiesinger and I am a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and Registered Midwife in Colorado, United States.

Midwifery was something I wanted to pursue since I was 11 years old. I have no other explanation for this phenomenon other than “God placed it into heart” as I had not heard about midwifery or known a midwife at this point in my life.

A dream came true for me, when I was able to attend my first homebirth with 14 and completed my first internship with a homebirth midwife when I was 15 years old. After those incredible experiences I was even more convinced to become a homebirth midwife myself.

I was born and grew up in Austria (Europe). Besides studying and pursuing my goal to become a midwife, traveling has been a passion of mine since I was 18 years old. Over the course of many years, I visited 40 countries, been to 7 continents and always tried to connect with local midwives and birth workers to gain more knowledge and experience in midwifery around the world. In New Zealand, Africa, Mexico, and the United States I was able to work with local midwives, doctors in the home- and hospital setting.

I graduated from IMC University Krems, Austria in 2015 with a Bachelor of Science in Midwifery. The midwife training offered in Austria is different than the midwife education in the US, because I was originally trained to work inside of a hospital setting, within birthing centers, and most importantly, within the home as well.

After graduating, I worked in a birthing center and did homebirths in Austria from 2015 to 2018. From 2018 to 2019, I worked in Tanzania, Africa with an NGO project as a midwife. With very little tools and almost no medical supplies, I was able to gain incredible knowledge and first-hand experience in one of the most remote places. I dealt with many medical emergencies in my time here and learned how to handle various complications that can occur both during and after the birth.

After coming to the US, I had to attend numerous home births as a primary midwife in order to obtain my CPM certification. In 2022, I received my national certification from the North American Registry of Midwives (NARM) as well as my Colorado state license.

Due to my different training and working experience as a midwife in many countries I believe every woman should have access to a midwife even if they don’t give birth at home. Please check out my different options of how I am able to care for you and your family even if your first choice is to give birth in a hospital.

With my husband, who is a Colorado native and my two daughters I am living in the area South of Denver. As a family we enjoy hiking, rock climbing and musical activities together.

“A new life brings a new beginning”

I am very much looking forward to walking, caring and empowering you and your family through such a unique, intimate and beautiful time of your life.
